DOs

• research medical insurance for yourself in advance which includes repatriation
• remember the EHIC only provides basic medical insurance cover
• familiarise yourself with emergency procedures at work and home
• photocopy the relevant section of your passport and EHIC card
• make a note of your country's embassy/consulate contact number
• find out where the nearest doctor and Garda station are

DON’Ts

• leave property unattended
• panic if you lose property! Think of the steps you must take!
• keep your keys and address in the same place
